This low pressure acts like a structural vacuum cleaner, constantly sucking air and soil gases out of the ground through your foundation cracks to replace the air lost at the top. Whether your heater is blasting in the winter or your air conditioner is running in the summer, your home is actively pulling underground gases upward into your living spaces.

So, is Philadelphia a high-risk radon zone?

The real answer is that any house built on soil has the potential for high radon levels. Broad maps and neighbor gossip cannot protect your home from an invisible, odorless, and tasteless radioactive gas.
